Ohrané pásmo is a special compilation for the thirty year anniversary of the band Jarret. The folk rock legend was not satisfied with just a selection. The record also contains five newly recorded songs. In addition, the thirty-item selection from Jarret's rich work is released in an exclusive limited three-vinyl edition and also on double CD.
The Jarret band is celebrating its 30th anniversary since its creation, and as it is quite usual in such cases, the Liberec band also gifted itself with a reminiscent compilation mapping a successful journey on the Czech music scene. The triple album called "Ohrané pásmo" offers the most significant of the band's five studio albums to date. Symbolically, the listener can count 30 songs, but Jarret also adds four brand new songs and one older song in a brand new guise. The compilation is released on three-vinyl LPs with a creative cover.
"When we started rehearsing and doing concerts thirty years ago, it was our big dream to record an album. An LP record. It was on turntables that we listened to our musical heroes at the time. When we finally made it after five years, it was already CD time. That is why we are only fulfilling our great wish now,” explains Jarret’s bassist Marek Štulír.
The publishing label Indies Records undertook the dramaturgical selection of individual songs, so it is not a traditional best of selection, however, the most famous hits in the triple album Ohrané pásmo are not missing. At the same time, listening to Jarret's compilation is an interesting period report, because it is an original recording from the time. Thanks to the founding three members, Hanka Skřivánková, Michal Kadlec and Marek Štulír, the compilation retains its musical ideological stability, even though the difference in the musical and arranging concept of the songs is clearly visible, especially when comparing recordings from the first record with those after the turn of new millennium.
Although the album Ohrané pásmo is not strictly chronologically arranged, some development is captured on the triple vinyl. At the beginning, the songs from the first albums predominate and then disappear to give way to songs from later works by Jarret. The last turn of the LP from the E side to the F side then means the introduction of the Jarret band in the 2022 model with a quartet of new songs.
The Jarret band is almost as old as the Czech Republic, thirty years is a long time in which a lot can happen. Jarret, too, had come a long way. The band, which has long been considered a very promising young prospect of Czech folk, and which gave the audience its contagious joy of making music, has definitely grown. It no longer bets only on spontaneity, mild playfulness and emotional youthful disunity. In the last decade, Jarret has come up with a sophisticated and very confident interpretation.
