Vladimír Javorský to release his second album in November, this time with the project Bočemuni. Listen to the new single “Na kole”.
Vladimír Javorský is best known as an acclaimed film and theatre actor, with dozens of roles to his name on both stage and screen. However, he has also been winning audiences over on the music scene. This is evident not only in his solo performances with a guitar or ukulele, or his work with Miroslav Kemel, but above all in his projects with producer, composer and multi-instrumentalist Marian Friedl. Together, they created the successful debut album Ještě je (Indies Scope, 2022), establishing a distinctive style inspired by chanson, folk, jazz and Moravian folk music. Now the two have joined forces again for a new project, Bočemuni, and an upcoming self-titled album, due for release on 20 November this year, once again on the Indies Scope label. The first taste of the album is the single “Na kole”, released on 9 October and available to listen to here.
On Bočemuni, Vladimír Javorský takes on vocals and guitar, while Marian Friedl is responsible for production, arrangements, original compositions, and wind instruments. The project is joined by an established band whose members will do more than accompany the duo this time, contributing to the arrangements and creating music of their own: Petra Jelénková (vocals), Štěpán Flagar (piano, saxophones), Rostislav Hus (guitar), Martin Kocián (double bass, trumpet, percussion), and Michal Wierzgoń (drums, percussion). Album launch concerts will take place in Ostrava on 27 January, Brno on 28 January, and Prague on 29 January. The musicians will then embark on a tour of the Czech Republic in the first half of next year.
“The warm and encouraging responses from audiences at our concerts, and eventually from music critics too, but above all the joy of making music and being together, led us to the threshold of a new joint project. We believe that our shared joy in music can reach you, too. Our songs roam freely through the landscapes of folk calls, folk, jazz, chanson and traditional music,” says Vladimír Javorský.
Vladimír Javorský has received numerous awards and nominations throughout his acting career. He won the Czech Lion Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for the film Poupata and was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Milada. He has been performing and collaborating with Mirek Kemel since the latter’s debut album Krajem šel anděl and also contributed to the recordings Nic víc and Ryby, raci.
Javorský studied at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno before joining Divadlo Husa na provázku, where he worked from 1986 to 1991. From 1993 to 1999, he was a member of Prague’s Činoherní klub. He then joined the drama company of the National Theatre in Prague, where he remained until July 2009. Between 2009 and 2016, he worked with the National Theatre as a permanent guest, returning as a full member of the drama company in the 2016/2017 season. He has appeared in approximately eighty films.

Marian Friedl is a multifaceted musician whose work includes reviving the playing of forgotten instruments from the Beskydy Mountains, music production and composition, and promoting folk music and improvisation. He performs on double bass, clarinet, folk flutes, bagpipes, kobza, small hammered dulcimer and other instruments, spanning genres from classical music and folklore to world music and jazz.
His playing features on numerous albums by other artists, including Tomáš Kočko, Dagmar Voňková, Jan Rokyta, Jiří Slavík, Peter Breiner and Mehdi Aminian, as well as on his own releases, such as Písně Hukvaldských Beskyd (2014), Beránci a vlci (2016), Beskydská Odysea (2019), Píseň ZEMĚ (2019), 11 PODOB LÁSKY (2020), Černobílý svět (2022), Šťastně a vesele! (2023), Telemannia (2023) and Básně ctností (2025).
His approach often combines the theoretical knowledge of a musicologist with the practical experience of a performing musician. This is also reflected in his book Koncovka: alikvotní flétna severozápadních Karpat (Togga, 2023). He has recently published two further works along similar lines: Kravařské písně: Kuhländler Lieder (Togga / UPOL / MNJ, 2026) and Stryk Drahun slovem, písní a obrazem (Trojanovice & RukyNaDudy, 2026). Both are what are known as QDs, with music available to download or stream via QR codes.
In 2017, Friedl received an Anděl Music Award for Beránci a vlci. In 2015, he recorded the album Mateřština with Jiří Slavík, who went on to win an Anděl Award in 2016. In 2018, he was nominated for an Anděl Award for Divé husy with the Trio Jitky Šuranské. In 2020 and 2021, he received nominations for the Jantar Awards of the Moravian Silesian Region for Beskydská Odysea and 11 PODOB LÁSKY.
