Kvietah Rejects Powerlessness in Přesila.

fotkaKvietah releases new single Přesila, born out of anger at how the decisions of those in power affect people’s lives. The song turns its attention to today’s crises and their impact on the people closest to the artist, as well as on her own life. Guest artist P/ST adds to the track’s intensity with a rap verse. Přesila is another preview of Kvietah’s third studio album, Rozkousanej svět, due for release on 4 September via Indies Scope.

The inspiration for Přesila came from news reports about events in Iran. “I was reading about the American invasion and the dark clouds that appeared over sandy beaches as a result of attacks on oil facilities in Tehran. I felt this terrible anger inside me that someone who was friends with Epstein, who is trying to suppress human rights in the US, could cast himself as the saviour of the people of Iran and only cause another catastrophe there,” Kvietah explains.

“The lyrics came to me straight away,” says Kvietah. “I don’t believe in an overwhelming force that takes life away. The sandy coastline is sprinkled with black rain, and clouds of poison cover the sky as the sun rises.”

Along with the lyrics, Kvietah had also come up with the guitar riff that opens the verse. She developed the final arrangement with her band during a spring retreat. “We agreed that we wanted to capture that anger in the recording. Dan Kranich from P/ST contributed greatly to the emotional build-up of Přesila with his guest rap verse, and he also sings with us at the end of the chorus,” says Kvietah. She also made a simple dance video with Dan Kranich.

Alongside the anger, Přesila also carries a sense of hope. One of the ideas that runs through the album as a whole is aptly expressed by guest artist P/ST: “I’m building a barricade out of eavesdropping and breaths; they won’t get to me.”

“I can feel things getting tougher, both in our society and around the world. I believe that if those of us who want to do something about it join forces, our voices will be heard more clearly. Despite all the shit going on, I still feel hopeful,” Kvietah adds.

Přesila follows the single Samota, released on 6 March as the first taste of the forthcoming album, capturing the painful emptiness left by the end of a relationship. “The album is about my personal transformation, about finding my place in a broken world. It’s a raw, stripped-back record, which is reflected in the sound too. It’s much heavier than my previous recordings,” Kvietah says.

The album Rozkousanej svět will be released on 4 September 2026 via Indies Scope. It was produced and mixed by guitarist Honza Skorunka, with mastering by Michal “Amák” Šťastný at Golden Hive studio. Kvietah, whose real name is Magdalena Fendrychová, won the 2024 Anděl Award for her previous album, Díky, včely, in the Discovery of the Year category. She will also perform the new songs live this autumn, with the Prague album launch taking place on 29 October at Palác Akropolis.
