This double album, full of songs so well-known that many of them have become completely popular, is called “Společný koncert” (i.e. The Collective Concert). It is a live recording of a joint concert of Hradišťan and Javory Beat, whose repertoire has a lot in common, not only musically, but also in their poetics. Listen to new and sometimes unexpected versions of songs that have been bringing joy to their listeners for decades.
Needless to say, both Hradišťan and Jiří Pavlica, as well as Hana and Petr Ulrych and "their" Javory, are among the fixed stars of the Czech music scene. They are interconnected by the character and content of their songs, their melody or sources of inspiration, and last, but not least, by the human aspect - a friendly and sincere approach to the listeners. Moreover, Jiří Pavlica, the frontman of the band Hradišťan, has also been a member of the group Javory for some time, as he mentions in the preface to the album: “We first met in the Javory group in the late 1970s. Then we each set out on our own path of searching and discovering, the path of original creation and striving for an original statement, which on the one hand was strongly inspired by the roots of Moravian traditional music culture and, on the other hand, wanting to resonate with the contemporary world. Maybe then there were the beginnings of what was later called world music.”
It is no surprise that the ensembles have prepared a series of joint concerts, but the fact that this has only happened now. A special program was created for this occasion, where the main and most interesting part of the concerts consist of songs interpreted by both bands together. The recording released on the CD comes from one of the many concerts that have taken place in the last two years - specifically on November 21, 2021 in the House of Culture in Kroměříž, CR. The recording resonates with songs that have become hits independently over the years and have filled the repertoire of both bands - Ideál (i.e. Idol), Zvláštní znamení (i.e. Special Sign), Modlitba za vodu (i.e. Prayer for Water), Javory (i.e. Maples), Krátký popis léta (i.e. Short Description of Summer), Modlitba (i.e. Prayer). However, these and other songs have a much broader meaning - they touch the human soul, their desires and efforts for harmony in us and around us.
