Nauzea Orchestra

Nauzea Orchestra is an alternative band formed in Ústí nad Labem in 2007, which has undergone a significant transformation since its inception. Their debut album, Meisterstűck Eins (2009), was electroclash in style, featuring lyrics in German and English, and drawing on Dadaist puns and comic book imagery. On the subsequent albums The Dark Side Of The Raven (2011), Dobro (2015), and Štěstí (2017), influences of offbeat country, krautrock, industrial, noise, and post-punk began to emerge. The fifth album, Láska (2021), and the upcoming sixth album, Ulož tmu, are entirely in Czech. The band’s current lineup consists of Ondřej Švandrlík (guitar, synthesizer, vocals), David Kolovratník (drums), Ivo Mikšovský (bass), Jakub Švandrlík (guitar), and Klára Suchanková (violin, vocals). Individual members have also long been involved in non-musical projects. Ondřej Švandrlík composes stage music for numerous Czech theaters. David Kolovratník works as a visual artist and designed the album covers for Štěstí, Láska, and Ulož tmu. Klára Suchanková is also active in the band Bizarre Band.
