Marek & The Seladons

Seladons move on the edge of modern chanson, jazz, and folk. However, with irony and rawness rarely heard. That Marek Hlavica is an exceptional singer and songwriter was already highlighted by Jiří Černý in his review of the band Žáha's first album, which Marek founded in the mid-nineteen-nineties. After all, he also confirmed that he was the last singer of Andršt's Blues Band. But then something happened: the end of English came. And Marek turned to Czech, which is the instrument of his primary livelihood. The former editor of Mladý svět, presenter, and communication expert began writing songs intended for attentive listening. He formed a band whose sound you will not mistake for any other. The elite jazzman Jakub Doležal, among other things, the saxophonist of the memorable supergroup Organic Quartet, where such personalities as guitarist Libor Šmoldas or organist Ondřej Pivec also emerged, commands not only wind instruments but also keyboards. The exceptionally sensitive guitarist Jiří Chmela is a generation younger, yet his range encompasses dreamy soundscapes as well as sharp crunch when it is in keeping with the character of the song. Bassist Eva Holická also supports the lead vocalist with her resonant, clear voice.
