Nylon Jail

After being forced to return home from Cuba, Roman Vičík (ex Beeline, Narcotic Fields) founded Nylon Jail together with Jiřin Jirák (ex Two men), the singer,  in Autumn 2011. The basic idea of a purely electronic project gradually transformed and moved over towards rock and country genres. The first concert took place in May 2012 at Jazz Tibet Club, Olomouc. Soon afterwards, the cooperation with the filmmaking duo David Mencl – Ondřej Hruška started. The 3D projections were created and were first presented in September 2012. The Devil Is a Cowboy Tour in cinemas and clubs followed. In Spring 2013, there was a lineup change in Nylon Jail. The violin and the mandolin were replaced with an electric guitar. Another change occurred behind the drum kit. The overall sound therefore became somewhat harder. In Summer 2013, the new Nylon Jail lineup toured both smaller and bigger festivals. They also recorded the debut album called My Heart Soars Like a Hawk in the production of Ondřej Ježek in JáMor Studio. The album will be released under the Indies Scope label as a CD and an LP on 29/10 2013. The on-stage as well as the out-of-stage presentation of Nylon Jail is based on comprehensive viewing of a music band as an aesthetic power that affects the audience. This includes clothing style of each band member, the stage projections, the stage lighting and a close cooperation with photographers, graphic designers and filmmakers.

The lyrics primarily reflect the life experience of Roman Vičík, the guitar player. The memories of his life in Cuba, its carefreeness and animality, the memories of the profound love terminated by an intervention of totalitarian power. The second lyric-ingredient is the theme of wandering through the countryside and through the night city which stands as a metaphor for life mishaps. These include even Roman’s experience of a personal assistant to an autistic boy - another relationship terminated by force majeure.
