ABOUT

Music that defies time and space awaits on I Love You Honey Bunny’s first record titled Cosmic Background Radiation. This highly-anticipated debut album comes after the band’s five-year existence and the release of five hit singles. Cosmic Background Radiation was produced by Dušan & Tomáš Neuwerth. The release of the album was also accompanied by the release of an apocalyptic-themed music video for their hit “Lazer Queen”.

"Finally!" was the overwhelming reaction of any and everyone who followed the indie rock quartet’s five-year musical career. Since November 2013, I Love You Honey Bunny has played for over 200 concerts, including a transatlantic tour. This album was definitely long overdue for their devoted fans. I Love You Honey Bunny is likely to surprise a number of their fans with the new sonic direction of Cosmic Background Radiation. "A debut album only comes once in a lifetime, so we did not want to rush its release. The resulting album is a mix of older songs with a new sound as well as songs that we have never played live. "

We've been listening to songs he’s produced since we were all in kindergarten

Undoubtedly, one of the band's greatest accomplishments was their overseas tour last year. “Not only has it brought us closer together as friends, but it has made us tighter as a band. It was an incredible experience; we crossed the entire western part of Canada and spent a week in New York City. We do not know if this can be heard on the current album, but we definitely decided to step it up as a band after this tour."

The Candian tour propelled the band to achieve bigger and better things. This determination is greatly reflected in the number of detailed preparations for Cosmic Background Radiation, as well as the careful selection of whom to work with on the album. Possibly the most crucial decision was the decision to collaborate with Dušan Neuwerth, who oversaw the production of the album.

"Dušan was our band’s unanimous first choice of producer for the album so we decided to reach out to him. We’d been listening to songs he produced since we were all in kindergarten - the place where the members of our band originally met one another. We were pleased when he responded positively to our request. He then suggested that he would like to produce the record with his brother, Tomas, whom we also wanted to collaborate with for a long time."

Fascination with space and nature

The album cover was designed by Pavel Fuksa and the “Lazer Queen” music video was directed by Michal Hruška. Space and nature represent what the band is interested in: "We are fascinated by the universe and everything connected with it, and this is reflected in the album itself. We wrote a large part of the album in a cottage, surrounded by nature in Slovakia’s Little Carpathians; this is the same location where we would complete the album, a year later. In regards to the music video, we wanted to make fun of apocalyptic - themed  Hollywood movies. We obviously did not have the same budget for the vast number of special effects required for these types of films, so we had to improvise. Instead, we used simple storyboard pictures to depict some of the more complex scenes to film, such as mass destruction and alien abduction.”
