Simply the name of the band Mosskin reveals much about the content of the album “Time Left Behind”. The name is a combination of moss and skin, so the gentleness and wildness of nature can get under your skin. This group has managed to unite the elements of three nationalities to a unique equilibrium. The origins of the band reach back to 2011 when frontman Chris Coleman (guitar, vocal, ukulele) began to create with Valachian(east Region of Czechia by the Slovakian border) Eva Kudrnová(violin, vocal, xylophone). Chris from his home state of Minnesota, U.S.A. brought his love of American folk and indie-rock and an inclination to relaxing music in contact with Eva’s gypsy and klezmer influences of Moravian folklore. This combination yarns itself into a very interesting fusion not only of American folk with Valachian folklore, but mainly Chris’ inner-calm with Eva’s dynamism and spontaneity. Jing and jang in this case unites into a precise whole.
The third part of the puzzle came in 2014 when the Swedish multi-instrumentalist Christoffer Strandh (bass guitar, guitar, piano..) joined the band. He brought his background of the rich Swedish music scene and jazz tendencies to extend their musical experimentations and play with harmony. On the album “Time Left Behind” the band takes these diverse elements one step further. Not only do they maintain the mood and mutual connectedness, they have invited a number of excellent musicians who delve deeply into their musical ideas. The innovative musicians Beata Bocek (Beata Bocek, MDŽ), Maok (Maok), Tomáš Hubáček (Listolet, HUSO), Martin Susedík (Černý čaj, Listolet), Will Philips (Project Twolights, Cherry Tempo) and James Stevens contributed to the album.
„Time Left Behind” was recorded in the Autumn and Winter of 2014/2015 with the help of Gloria Records studio in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm. Analogue technology was used for the mastering which gives it such a natural tone of instruments and vocals.
The CD is packaged in digipack with the beautiful artwork of Polish artist Monika Mincewicz.
