English version below

English version

For years, the ensemble Hradišťan from Moravia (Czech Republic) released special CDs. From 1975 singer, violinist and composer Jiří Pavlica is the leader of the group. He has an unprecedented sense of atmosphere and melody. With his 7-member band (and seven guest musicians) he dances on the edge of eastern Czech (cymbal) folk and Western European music.

In 2015 Jiří Pavlica is for fourty years the leader of Hradišt’an. Since 1950 this band is related to the dance company Uherske Hradiste; named after a village in South Moravia. For years steeped Pavlica on its own and recognizable way the South Moravian folk with theatrical (pop) music. Moravia is the land of the cimbalobands (type of dulcimer), slivovice (plum liqueur), festivals and (wedding) parties. In 1998 Pavlica wrote the stunning ‘O Slunovratu’ (The solstice). A religious theme song & dance spectacle on poems by the Czech poet Jan Skacel (1922/’89). On his new album ‘Vteriny kreheké‘ (Fragile Seconds) we hear music on poems of modern Czech poets. Although his new pieces sometimes quite unpack, melancholy still remains with sometimes a slightly pathetic. The immensely beautiful voice of singer Alice Holubova, sparkling harmonies and rich instrumentation on cymbal, violin, clarinet, flute and piano provide candid and unprejudiced music that puts a limitless link between the Moravian past and unbridled musical future. All songs are sung in Czech. However, somewhat strangely, ‘A Second of Temptation‘ – as if you suddenly listening to another group; with English lyrics, the use of a drum machine and smooth strings parties. Jiří Pavlica is a real melody man; in each song there’s a hidden musical gem: a special discovery harmonic or a remarkable melodic turn. Who takes time to discover these ‘fragile seconds‘ will notice how beautiful and special this Moravian music is.
