The KIESLOWSKI duo is a new project of a musician known as DKP and Maria Kieslowski. DKP was in Bez peří and Houpací koně bands and he is also a member of the backing band of Xavier Baumaxa. With the pianist Marie Kieslowski he forms a duo that relies on the intimacy and rawness of the basic acoustic guitar sound, piano and a contrast of two tonally distinct voices.  

“It came naturally from the need to get to the core of the songs and to emphasize intimacy, tenderness, try ‘not to hide’ behind the arrangements, couplings and noise,” confesses DKP about the difference between being a rocker and become a songster.  The album Tiché lásky is rather fragile, intimate confession about loves that we hold deep inside.  Everything is wrapped in bold melodies with poetic and honest lyrics. “We were trying to achieve as much intimacy, purity and simplicity of form as possible. We recorded the old piano in a club and in the studio we were watching ourselves to keep it in certain level and not to get lost in the arrangements.“ The result is an album which contains many songs that refer to rocker past, but they are surprisingly clean, almost folksy. The folk style found in coupling guitar noise and in the clatter of percussion is finding its place in the new wave of singer-songwriters in the Czech Republic.

Everybody who knew the band Bez Peří and their work might be surprised by their frontman’s new project. DKP describes how all this happened. “During the recording of the third album by Bez peří in 2006 we were frustrated and tired. Also, there were some personal problems of each of us and we didn’t feel like playing together anymore. After almost a year we tried to crank up the chain, but we realized it wasn’t it….that we were going through the thread. The rest of the band embarked on a new project and I was learning to be by myself. I replaced the guitar riffs for basic chords and I’m going on a path where the individual and his story are important."

The story of “Kieslowski” is at the beginning but it already looks like the love for a lifetime.
