Dědeček Jiří: Řekněte to mýmu psovi (Tell It to My Dog)
Jiří Dědeček is an unconventional figure in Czech folk. For several decades he has been playing his own music on Czech stages, in which humor mingles with the reflection of contemporary world. In this album you will find music and texts under the sign of proved Dědeček’s model of delicate and intelligent “worn-out songs”. This time he is accompanied by experienced and well-known studio musicians. Jiří Dědeček presents himself as an exclusive author of both music and texts in this album. “This CD comprises of ten new texts and six that are so old no one remembers them (in some cases these are old lyrics, which I supplied with music just for the purposes of this CD). Three other titles are recited short poems, sometimes merry, sometimes not, which in a way evoke atmosphere for songs that follow. As far as music is concerned, I stick to my way, and the studio ensemble “Starší psi” (Older Dogs), musicians with whom I co-operated in two previous albums, help me to do so. This time, we are also complimented with a bass in rendering of Professor Novák,” says Jiří Dědeček about the album.
